After long last THE BRATTLE THEATRE in Cambridge, MA has been allowed to reopen and they’ll be doing so slowly but surely. As well as the new indie film MINARI, you can book The Brattle for private screenings including titles they have access to in 35mm! More info HERE

Absolutely HUGE lineup via THE FRIDA CINEMA for Black History Month with almost 20 Black Cinema classics available to stream, many you won’t find elsewhere, spanning decades and genres. On top of that The Frida has their WONG KAR-WAI RETROSPECTIVE with new 4K Restorations to stream, and stay tuned for special Virtual Screenings of THE ROOM (2003) with LIVE commentary from Greg ‘Oh Hi Mark!’ Sestro! Over at The TEXAS THEATRE in Dallas, they’ve got you covered for cult movie free. Catch Asiansploitation cult fave POWERFORCE (1982) for their ‘Tuesday Night Trash’ event this Tues 2/9 and the one and only Freddy Krueger in NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET 4: THE DREAM MASTER with star Lisa Wilcox in person for Q&A this Thurs 2/11. Melbourne’s ASTOR THEATRE rolls out another week of classics with INDIANA JONES & THE TEMPLE OF DOOM (1984) running until Wednesday 2/10. On Fri 2/12 catch a Sci-Fi Double Feature of ALIENS (1986 - Super rare 70mm Print) + STARSHIP TROOPERS (1997 / 4K). On Sat 2/13 they’re STAR WARS ORIGINAL TRILOGY marathon screening in 35mm has sold out, but individual sessions will be running next week. On Valentine's Day Sun 2/14 catch two movie anniversaries with BREAKFAST AT TIFFANY’S (1961 / 4K), clocking up 60 years, at 3pm and then turning up to high volume is Bad Luhrmann’s Shakespeare fort the MTV generation with ROMEO & JULIET (1996) celebrating 25 years, at 7pm. Melbourne’s ACMI finally reopens this Thurs Feb 11th. As well as exhibitions and installations, this groundbreaking museum to the moving image has a fantastic cinema, and will be one of the only places in the world open to the public to present the new WONG KAR-WAI RETROSPECTIVE on the big screen where they belong in all their extravagant glory. Staying in Australia, The QAGOMA film program features the New 4K release of seminal anime classic AKIRA (1988) on Fri 2/12 8:30pm. An archival 35mm Print of the insane Japense CRAZY THUNDER ROAD (1980) described as ‘Visions of a bleak, post-apocalyptic urban wasteland strewn with twisted hunks of mechanical wreckage with a rasping electronic buzz on the soundtrack also on Fri 2/12 at 6pm. Toning it down for Valentine's Day is Audrey Hepburn’s beloved debut in ROMAN HOLIDAY (1953) on Sun 2/14 3pm with a New 4K Restoration. More info HERE.

The HOLLYWOOD LEGION THEATRE Drive In is dishing out the greats this week including SUNSET BOULEVARD (1950) Wed 2/10 7pm, CITIZEN KANE (1941) Fri 2/12 7pm and on Valentines Day THE SHOP AROUND THE CORNER (1940) Sun 2/14 5:45pm.
