THE HEIGHTS THEATER in Minneapolis reopens this Saturday, with safety precautions including compulsory masks and 25% capacity. Kicking off their comeback season is PILLOW TALK (1959) starring Riock Hudson and Doris Day, with BABES IN TOYLAND (1934) and Kubrick’s THE KILLING (1956) following next week. THE COOLIDGE CORNER in Massachusetts is partnering with the 2021 Sundance Film Festival to offer this virtual program of talks and events, starting this week including BEASTS OF THE SOUTHERN WILD (2012) on Friday and more titles in their Virtual Cinema. Meanwhile over in Australia (who have their Covid outbreak under control), the QUEENSLAND ART GALLERY | GALLERY OF MODERN ART (QAGOMA) presents screenings of Hong Kong action classic FULL CONTACT (1992 / 35mm Print) starring Chow Yun-Fat on Fri 1/29, EASY RIDER (1969 / 4K) on Sun 1/31 as well as their ‘Rave’ lineup of films diving into dance with BEATS (2019) on Sat 1/30 and Gasper Noé’s CLIMAX (2018) also on Sat 1/30. Staying in Australia, Melbourne magnificent ASTOR THEATRE is also back to regular schedules programming with a 4K Restoration of the seminal Indiana Jones classic RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK (1981) screening all weekend. More info HERE.

The NITEOWL DRIVE IN Miami has anime legends on their screen with COWBOY BEBOP: THE MOVIE (2001), as well as AKIRA (1988) in 4K both screening Sat 1/30. More info HERE.

In New York, the MUSEUM OF THE MOVING IMAGE updates it’s virtual screening lineup with new releases as well as virtual tours of the the Jim Henson Exhibition.
