NEON MARQUEE NEWS UPDATE!

NEON MARQUEE NEWS UPDATE!

Some news tidbits for all you retro connoisseurs and celluloid aficionados, including where you can catch Quentin Tarantino’s latest feature as it was meant to be seen; on film!

ONCE UPON A TIME IN HOLLYWOOD SCREENING IN 35MM AND 70MM

With Tarantino being an adamant shooter of celluloid, it’s make sense to see it the way the Director intended. This is good news , as many digital presentations are seriously lacking in terrible color grading (Spiderman Far From Home was particularly bad), and with the subject matter of OATIH being a trip back to the end of the 60s, it’s a blessing to have the movie transferred to 35mm and 70mm. Here’s where to catch it:

LIMITED SCREENINGS OF ‘JOKER’ IN 70MM

We didn’t see this one coming, but this rather unique take on Batman’s arch nemesis will play in select locations in grand 70mm Print Format. In what is looking to be a very interesting interpretation, Joaquin Phoenix lays down a vulnerable performance somewhere between Travis Bickle of Taxi Driver and Heath Ledger’s version of the Clown Prince of Crime. We quite like the more restrained, lower budget feeling approach DC is taking with their movies (Shazam and the upcoming Harley Quinn / Birds of Prey continue this trend, hopefully shying away from the grandiose ambitions of shared movie universe). So far The Coolidge Corner Theatre in Brookline, MA and City Cinemas East Village NY have been conformed with more to come, given 70mm equipped theaters trebled in the U.S thanks to Tarantino’s explicit instructions for Hateful Eight to be screened in the format in 2015.
