MONDAY JANUARY 27TH

Ongoing: The FILM FORUM in NYC continues it's celebration of French screen legend ANNA KARINA with a superb collection of titles running through Thursday including ALPHAVILLE, BAND OF OUTSIDERS and more.

Mon Jan 27th 1pm: Matinee session of Joel Schumacher's much loved 80s vampire romp THE LOST BOYS (1987) screens at The SENATOR THEATRE in Baltimore.

Mon Jan 27th 1:30pm: Free Double Feature! Two Tarantino classic in 35mm with INGLORIOUS BASTERDS (2009) + DJANGO UNCHAINED (2012). Get in quick for seating! At the EGYPTIAN THEATRE in Hollywood.

Mon Jan 27th 6:15pm:
London's PRINCE CHARLES CINEMA screens the extremely dark sci-fu cult favorite EVENT HORIZON (1997) in 35mm. Some seroiusly disturbing imagery sprinkled throughout this one.

Mon Jan 27th 8pm: The low rent Karate Kid flick NO RETREAT NO SURRENDER (1986) screens tonight at Arizona's LOFT CINEMA and is all kinds of cringey borrowing elements from so many hits of the time (ROCKY IV, PRETTY IN PINK among others) manifesting in a joyously so bad it's good fight fest with a villanous Jean Claude Van Damme stars in one of his first roles. It was followed up by a slew of bafflingly unrelated sequels.

Mon Jan 27th 10:30pm: Counterculture hero Director Seijun Suzuki's absurdist action classic BRANDED TO KILL (1962) got him fired from the studio Nikkatsu, but went on to become an influence on greats such as John Woo and Quientin Tarantino. Screens at NYC's METROGRAPH.

TUESDAY JANUARY 28TH

Tues Jan 28th 1pm: A rare case of a remake that holds up to the original. CAPE FEAR (1991) stars Robert De Niro as the super creep Max Cady with Scorsese creating a chilling and unique thriller. Screens at Santa Monica's AERO THEATRE.

Tues Jan 28th 6:30pm: A brilliant vision of the ghost town that was 1980s punk era New York City, SMITHEREENS (1982) was the first American independent film in competition at Cannes. Directed by Susan Seidelman with Susan Berman and punk legend Richard Hell. Screens at New York's MOMA in 35mm.

Tues Jan 28th 6pm:  A free screening of the sci-fi masterpience THE DAY THE EARTH STOOD STILL (1951) a dire warning to cold war era America still stands the test of time. Screens at The BRATTLE THEATRE in Massachusetts.

Tues Jan 28th 7:30pm: GUNS OF THE TREES (1962), a rime example of the new American cinema crossed with Avant-garde of the era screens with a new restoration at New York's ANTHOLOGY FILM ARCHIVES in 35mm.

WEDNESDAY JANUARY 29TH

Wed Jan 29th 7pm: The Italian classic THE BICYCLE THIEVES (1947) still holds up as a powerful piece of legendary cinema. Screens at the LA CINAMTHEQUE FRANCAISE in Paris.

Wed Jan 29th 7:30pm: It's a Triple Feature of Mother Nature gone wild at L.A's NEW BEVERLY CINEMA. Catch ORCA (1977) + NIGHTWING (1979) + PROPHECY (1979). Killer whales, bats and much more in super rare 35mm!

Wed Jan 29th 7:30pm: The goegeous MICHIGAN THEATRE in Ann Arbor presents Robert Altman's 'whodunnit' GOSFORD PARK (2001).

Wed Jan 29th 7pm. The career of Director Richard Stanley is one of norotrity. The documentary LOST SOUL: THE DOOMED JOURNEY OF ISLAND OF DOCTOR MOREAU (2014) is a bizarre and riveting tale of the young Director losing control of his dream project to relentless egos, clueless executives, weather, eventual firing and so much more. Screens at The TEXAS THEATRE in Dallas.

Wed Jan 29th 9:15pm: After the brilliant documentary mentioned above, stick around for the film that become an unmitigated disaster, ultimately being salvaged into at least a barely functioning film by Director John Frankenheimer. THE ISLAND OF DOCTOR MOREAU (1996) screens in 35mm at The TEXAS THEATRE in Dallas.

THURSDAY JAN 30TH

Thurs Jan 1pm: Martin Scorsese directs a young, charismatic Robert De Niro alongside Harvey Keitel on the once gritty backdrop of Little Italy New York in MEAN STREETS (1973). Screens at Santa Monica's AERO THEATRE in 35mm.


Thurs Jan 30th 4:30pm: Catch a beloved gem from His Holiness of Trash, John Waters with POLYSTER (1981). Screens at NYC's MOMA as part of their 'American Indies 1980 - 1989' series.

Thurs Jan 30th 4pm: A Double Feature of mad scientists with MAD LOVE (1935), starring the great Peter Lorre, plus DR. CYCLOPS (1940), both in 35mm at the BRATTLE THEATRE in Massachutes.

Thurs Jan 30th 3:35pm: One of cinemas' ultimate trips takes the form of HOLY MOUNTAIN (1973) from the mind of Alejandro Jodorowsky. Screens at London’s PRINCE CHARLES CINEMA.
