FRIDAY AUGUST 30TH

Friday Aug 30th through Sun Sept 1st: GODZILLATHON stomps all over The Hollywood Theatre in Portland this long weekend with a city crushing lineup of Godzilla classics including DESTROY ALL MONSTERS (1968), GODZILLA VS MEGALON (1973), GODZILLA VS MECHAGODZILLA (1974) and GODZILLA ON MONSTER ISLAND (1979).

Friday Aug 30th through Sun Sept 1st: The Mahoning Drive In in Pennsylvania presents REEL WEIRD WEEKEND VOL 2 with three thematic Double Features including Friday REMOTE CONTROL (1988) + VIDEODROME (1983), Saturday PHANTOM OF THE PARADISE (1974) + BEYOND THE VALLEY OF THE DOLLS (1972) and Sunday INFRA-MAN (1976) + SUPERARGO AND THE FACELESS GIANTS (1968).

Ongoing until Sept 2nd: CINECON 2019 aka The Classic Film Festival is underway at The Egyptian Theatre in Hollywood. It's a multi day festival with a multitude of classic film screenings, appearances, signings and memorabilia. If you live and breath the golden age of cinema, this is your weekend!

Fri 7:30pm: A delicious Double Feature that swipes at the malaise of the post-boomer over the counter and corporate culture. Catch OFFICE SPACE (1999) + CLERKS (1994) at The Aero Theatre in Santa Monica, California.

Fri 7:15pm: A cleaver little time travel Double Feature at San Francisco's Castro Theatre with STAR TREK IV: THE VOYAGE HOME (1986) in 35mm + TIME AFTER TIME (1979).

Fri 8:30pm: An Excelleeeeeeeent Friday night out at The Prince Charles Cinema London with a 35mm Double Feature of WAYNE'S WORLD (1992) + WAYNE'S WORLD 2 (1993). You almost forget how quickly they churned that sequel out!

SATURDAY AUGUST 31ST

Sat 11:30am: A special tribute to Bette Davis is underway at The Music Box Theatre in Chicago. Catch DARK VICTORY (1939), with Davis dishing out one of her best performances, co-starring Humphrey Bogart, in 35mm.

Sat 12:30pm, 2:10pm & 9:05pm: The lineup of classic Double Features programmed by Martin Scorsese and Jay Cocks continues at NYC's Film Forum with CRIME WAVE (1954) + Akira Kurosawa's HIGH AND LOW (1963) both in 35mm.

Sat 2pm: While LA's New Beverly Cinema, owned by Mr Tarantino himself, continues its massive season of ONCE UPON A TIME IN HOLLYWOOD in 35mm, you can catch a few 35mm few classics in the mix including the Disney matinee gem THE UGLY DACHSHUND (1966), presented on a rare, vibrant 35mm IB Technicolor Print.

Sat 2pm: If you've never been, you owe yourself a visit to NYC's Museum of the Moving Image. As part of their 'See It Big' 70mm Festival, this weekend is the originals Cinerama format mad cap comedy caper IT'S A MAD, MAD, MAD, MAD WORLD (1963). Also screens Sunday.

Sat 3:30pm: Arguably the best American action series of the last decade, you can't mass up the bombastic, and admittedly a little kooky, John Wick series. Catch a Triple Feature of JOHN WICK (2014) + JOHN WICK: CHAPTER 2 (2017) + JOHN WICK CHAPTER 3: PARABELLUM (2019) at Brooklyn NY's Syndicated Theatre. Another Keanu's fave, SPEED (1994) screens at 10:30pm, with more of his back catalogue all weekend.

Sat 6pm: Rediscover Guillermo Del Toro's beloved dark fairytale PAN'S LABYRINTH (2006) in 35mm at The Texas Theatre in Dallas. Also screens Sunday.

Sat 7:30pm: Hit the road into the wastelands with a sensational Mad Max Triple Feature at The Aero Theatre, Santa Monica. MAD MAX (1979) + MAD MAX 2: THE ROAD WARRIOR (1982) + MAD MAX BEYOND THUNDERDOME (1985) goes back to back.

Sat 9:10pm: The Prince Charles Cinema is having another of their all nighters, time it's the 1999 TEEN MOVIE PYJAMA PARTY with 6 films for one ticket! Lineup includes 10 THINGS I HATE ABOUT YOU (35mm), NEVER BEEN KISSED, ELECTION (35mm), **a Mystery 1999 teen movie!**, VARSITY BLUES (35mm) and SHE'S ALL THAT. Ends approx 8:40am Sunday!

SUNDAY SEPTEMBER 1ST

All Day Sunday: Head to Film At Lincoln Center in NYC for a rock solid lineup of classics for their 'Regan Era' special. Catch CONAN THE BARBARIAN (1982 / 35mm / 2pm), FIRST BLOOD (1982 / 4K Restoration / 4:30pm), GREMLINS (1984 / 35mm / 6:30pm) or THE TERMINATOR (1984 / 35mm / 8:30pm).

Sun 12:30pm: Catch the original and far superior animated Disney classic BEAUTY AND THE BEAST (1992) in a special sing-along format at San Franciso's Castro Theatre. Also screens for the Labor Day holiday on Monday.

Sun 3:45pm: The anime films of Satoshi Kon transcend the genre. PAPRIKA (2006) is the fourth and final film of Kon's and inspired Nolan's 'Inception', and an absolute visual feast akin to a fever dream of psychedelia. Showing at NYC’s Metrograph Cinema. Not to be missed. Also screens Friday, Saturday and Monday

Sun 1:30pm, 4:30pm & 8pm: Nothing more really needs to be said about Fellini's beloved masterpiece, and we highly recommend you get to The Brattle Theatre Massachusetts for LA DOLCE VITA (1960), on the big screen in lush 35mm. Also screening Friday, Saturday and Monday

Sun 5:30pm: Another Fellini classic hits the big screen with the exquisite JULIET OF THE SPIRITS (1965) which is an absolutley must for any cinematography enthusiast. Screens at The Roxy Cinema, NYC.

Sun 6:30pm: It's Father's Day in Australia and The Orpheum in Sydney Australia will present a special Dad's Day screening of TOP GUN (1986) complete with a beer on arrival!

Sun 8:30pm: Christopher Nolan turned narrative structure on its ear with his time bending masterpiece MEMENTO (2000) screening in 35mm at BAM Cinematheque NYC with a stunning performance from Guy Pearce.
