SCI-FI IN 70MM AT OREGON'S HOLLYWOOD THEATRE

SCI-FI IN 70MM AT OREGON'S HOLLYWOOD THEATRE

This April, the Hollywood Theatre in Oregon will present a 70mm Sci-fi Weekend, featuring three spectacular Sci Fi favorites with the 1984 classic GHOSTBUSTERS, the 1982 Disney production TRON, and Christopher Nolan's acclaimed 2014 film INTERSTELLAR.

With a greater aspect ratio and higher resolution than 35mm film, 70mm imagery is sharper, richer, and more immersive. There is no projectable digital format that exceeds the clarity of 70mm, and even then, formats like 4K retain an almost 'too sharp' image and often lifeless, flat digital color palette. The Hollywood Theatre is the only venue in the state of Oregon capable of screening films in 70mm! Tickets to the April 70mm Sci-Fi Weekend are on sale now. Hollywood Theatre members received pre-sale access to these screenings.

Without further ado, here's a recap of the lineup;

TRON (1982) - A computer hacker is abducted into the digital world and forced to participate in gladiatorial games, where his only chance of escape is with the help of a heroic security program. Starring Jeff Bridges, David Warner and Cindy Morgan, and featuring groundbreaking special effects. Fri 4/7, 7:00pm & Sat 4/8, 9:00pm

GHOSTBUSTERS (1984) - A group of former parapsychology professors set up shop as a ghost removal service. When an ancient god is resurrected to bring an end to humanity, who you gonna call???
